FAO Schwarz Sketch and Glow Easel – 2021

Magically draw with light on the Sketch and Glow Easel from FAO Schwarz. Color on the dry-erase board with the special UV-reactive markers, then turn on the ultraviolet backlight to watch the artwork come to life in neon colors. Turn the easel around to draw on the blackboard surface with chalk. For more creative possibilities, pull the fabric tab to open the blackboard panel and access a compartment full of craft paper. The Sketch and Glow Easel is easy to carry around and set up; its stand is deployable at any angle and doubles as a handy carrying handle.

Our team at Propulsion supported FAO Schwarz with industrial design and preliminary engineering on this project. Starting with their existing 3-in-1 easel product, we made this new version more compact and portable, with a more premium aesthetic. Our new design is primarily made of wood, lending the product a more heritage and premium feel while bring the product in-line with the large collection of existing FAO Schwarz wooden toys.

Everything needed for drawing is stored in the easel, keeping the product organized and truly portable for on-the-go kids. The chalk and fluorescent markers that come with the easel are stored behind built-in felt erasers. Behind the chalkboard panel there is storage for standard-sized craft paper. The paper will also fit in the recess on either side of the easel, giving you an angled surface for coloring on the paper. The Sketch and Glow Easel is really 3 easels in 1!
