Das Keyboard DeltaForce 65 — 2024

As a leader in the mechanical keyboard market, Das Keyboard’s ethos has always been to bring the ultimate typing experience to users. Das Keyboard set out to specifically target competitive e-Sports players and enthusiasts with the new DeltaForce 65. We are proud to be their product development partners once again, designing their first all-metal gasket-mount keyboard to be as bomb-proof as it is premium.

“Gasket-mounting” refers to suspending the key switch PCB assembly on an elastomeric foam layer. This foam gasket is tuned to absorb shock without feeling mushy or vague. Differentiated from direct mount, this results in a less resonant feel in key strokes. When combined with quality mechanical switches and thick PBT plastic keycaps, typing becomes incredibly satisfying. Key response is snappy and positive while excess force is damped and isolated from the rest of the frame. The overall impression is of a precise and responsive tool that feels completely grounded. We wrapped this construction technique with a 100% machined aluminum top and bottom housing with expressive yet minimal styling.

In another first for Das Keyboard, we designed graphics that fully wrap each key using dye sublimation. These patterns further extend out to a custom desk mat. We designed four colorways, each with a unique pattern referencing camouflage styles for different environments and eras.

Animation

Once Industrial and Graphic Design were wrapped up, we developed marketing visualizations of the product in still renderings and animation. The animation production began with an exploration of scope through shot conceptualization and storyboarding, moving to a pre-visualization render for client approval, concluding with final rendering, compositing, sound, and editing. The video served as the introduction for Das Keyboard’s Kickstarter campaign, which ultimately raised 787% of the project goal.
